Are You Questioning Injectables for Your Needs?

Botox Dermal Fillers Ashburn VABotox and dermal fillers are common injectable products that have been in use so long now that it may seem as though everyone is getting this treatment but you. Have you been dragging your feet, so to speak, when it comes to leaping into the injectable pool? Are you feeling the urge to take control of your skin’s aging process but unsure where to start? We’re here to help you. Here, we discuss some of the most common questions we hear about injectable treatments.

What exactly are injectables?

You have heard of Botox and have probably at least heard the term “dermal fillers.” There are several products that fit into the injectable category. The good thing is, you don’t have to know everything about each one; just enough to feel comfortable about the safety and efficacy of treatment. Important details that may help you understand injectables include:

  • Botox is a neuromodulator. Yes, it contains a minuscule amount of a highly purified botulinum toxin. No, this will not make you sick. Remember, the safety of Botox has been observed and documented over a 15+ year period.
  • The way a neuromodulator works is by relaxing muscles. If you’re interested in the science of how this happens, we’re happy to tell you during your visit!
  • Dermal fillers contain ingredients that add volume to the tissues that lie just beneath the skin. A common ingredient is hyaluronic acid, a sugar compound that draws in water molecules and secures them within tissue for several months.

Will I look unnatural after treatment?

Because some of the faces we recognize the most have obviously been treated with injectables, the concern that this cosmetic treatment may alter your face too much is understandable. Generally, our clients desire a refreshed appearance that subtly rejuvenates areas around the eyes, nose, and mouth. Even lip augmentation with dermal fillers can look completely natural.

How long will results last? Is it worth it to get injectables?

When a client wants to know how long results last, the real question is usually “is it worth it for me to get this treatment?” Only you can answer that. What we can say is that Botox can last up to six months. When this injectable is performed routinely, results may last longer. Dermal fillers can last from a few months to a year and a half. The longevity of results makes injectable treatment a cost-effective approach to manage progressive aging.
