It’s no secret that people develop wrinkles and lose skin volume as they age. You may look in the mirror one day and decide it’s time to turn back the clock a little. There are several ways to use dermal fillers to make wrinkles less obvious. Many people choose to have dermal filler injections so that they can have smoother, fuller, and younger looking skin.
Less expensive and intense than a facelift, dermal can help to reduce the appearances of wrinkles and restore a more youthful appearance. The key to a successful injection is choosing the right type of filler.
Popular Dermal Fillers
- BOTOX® Cosmetic: One of the most widely known facial injections, BOTOX Cosmetic is actually quite different from other face-enhancing injections. Instead of filling in under the wrinkles, BOTOX relaxes muscles. It is best used before wrinkles are deeply set to temporarily relieve crow’s feet and frown lines for approximately 3-6 months.
- Juvederm®: By filling gaps under wrinkles with hyaluronic acid, Juvederm makes a big difference. The acid acts like a sponge under the skin and rejuvenates the full, smooth appearance of the face. There are two versions available: regular and ultra-plus. The regular form is best used under thin skin, like near the eyes. Ultra-plus is designed for deeper lines, so it is best used around the lips, under scars, and along the cheekbones. Juvederm products last anywhere from three months to a year.
- Restylane®: More moderate to severe wrinkles along the deeper skin on your face can be filled with Restylane. A gel made out of hyaluronic acid, like Juvederm, Restylane generally lasts up to 18 months if you have repeat injections. Restylane is known in particular for the volume it adds under soft tissue, filling out the skin to make the face appear more vibrant.
